If you’re looking for diversified landscapes to cycle through and enjoy, the Cantalien massif is an ideal destination. You’ll find a host of interesting routes to discover the mountain passes and plateaux. This is a unique opportunity to soak up the breathtaking beauty of the Cantalien landscape. Situated in the heart of the Parc Régional des Volcans d'Auvergne (Auvergne Volcanoes Regional Park), you’ll be able to recharge your batteries and enjoy some thrilling moments.

The advantages of your break:

  • A varied programme of hiking excursions to discover the many facets of the Cantal volcano
  • A half-board break in an authentic family atmosphere
  • No need to drive (SNCF train stations at Murat and Le Lioran).

Holiday programme

  • Garabit viaduct. If you want to warm up before venturing into the Cantal mountains, the Planèze de Saint-Flour is an excellent starting point. You can admire the magnificent high plateau landscapes that are so characteristic of the region and that create the unique and varied relief of Cantal.
  • Tour of Le Plomb. Continue your exploration of Cantal via the Prat de Bouc mountain pass, at the foot of Le Plomb du Cantal. From there, the Brezons valley will take you to the Truyère valley, before returning via the summer pastures of the Pailherols plateau.
  • Pas de Peyrol mountain pass. This route takes you around the iconic summit of Puy Mary, through a series of glacial valleys. Follow in the tracks of the Tour de France over the famous Pas de Peyrol mountain pass. Whichever route you choose to take to reach the top of the mountain pass, you’ll be enthralled by the breathtaking panoramic views.

  • Planèze and Margeride. After tackling the slopes at the heart of the massif, the Planèze and Margeride routes offer a more leisurely experience. You’ll pass through several villages as you follow the river Margeride towards the highlands where the legendary Beast of Gévaudan left its mark.
  • Cézallier. A trip to explore the Cézallier plateau is an unforgettable experience. You’ll be enchanted by the vast expanses of high-altitude pastureland formed by lava, which for a long time were the heartland of transhumance in Cantal. The roads wind through lush green landscapes dotted with magnificent gorges, offering cyclists a feeling of serenity and peace.

This is an example of what can be offered, but it can be modified for various reasons. This programme is not contractually binding.
