This spectacular journey through the Cantalien volcano begins in Aveyron, on the banks of the Lot at Port d'Agrès. It will take two or three days to cross the vast Cantal volcano to reach the village of Blesle in the Haute-Loire, listed as one of the most beautiful villages in France. With gorges, volcanoes and high plateaux, this itinerary guarantees a rewarding journey through Cantal’s emblematic landscapes, passing through towns and villages steeped in traditional charm.

Col routier de Pas de Peyrol road mountain pass, at the foot of Puy Mary. Round trip on foot to the summit in 1 hour and 30 minutes
Dienne, pretty little village at the bottom of the valley. Also worth a visit: the Romanesque church of Saint-Cirgues and the Drils mill (nearby)
Le Jolan and La Gazelle peat bogs, along the D9 road between the hamlet of La Gazelle and the village of Allanche. Site classified as Réserve Naturelle Régionale (Regional Nature Reserve); 1-hour and 30-minute stroll
Allanche, capital of the “Estive” summer pastures, its town, church, ramparts and the Espace Cézallier visitor site
