Château de la Cheyrelle – Perle Bed and Breakfast

The suite takes its name from the “Perle” furniture that adorns it, which was designed in 1904 by Serrurier-Bovy for the hotel room design competition organized by the Automobile Club de France (Category B). The walls, covered in woven wallpaper evoking the world of haute couture, complement the turquoise-blue enameled cabochons on the furniture—which features warm tones of oak and padauk—creating an atmosphere that harmoniously blends modernity and tradition. An oak fireplace and a small sitting area complete the space. An alcove paneled in wood, reminiscent of the luxury train compartments of yesteryear, houses a charming powder room. Opposite it is a comfortable shower adorned with delicate turquoise Venetian glass inlays. A separate bathroom, adjacent to the bedroom, occupies the south turret. A private reading room, located in the west tower and accessible via a small hallway, overlooks the rose garden. Adorned with the exceptional “Silex” decor—created in 1903 by Gustave Serrurier-Bovy for La Cheyrelle—it offers an intimate setting and a haven conducive to writing or meditation; the “Silex” furniture, considered one of the artist’s major works, is on display at the Musée d’Orsay.
